All proposals should be submitted via the Joint Conference of Librarians of Color website at: http://www.jclc-conference.org/
All proposals must be submitted electronically via http://www.jclc-conference.org/ by midnight PST on October 1, 2011. Late submissions will not be considered.
JCLC 2012 welcomes proposals from everyone! Proposals should be submitted by one person, who will be the Program Organizer and main contact for all communication sent from the JCLC Program Committee.
All proposals should be submitted online and include a title, description (500 words), track, audience, format, room and AV set up, and speaker info. More details are on the proposal form.
All proposals can be edited at any time until the deadline. Log into the website, select the tab for "My Proposals" and click edit near the bottom.
The Joint Conference of Librarians of Color accepts proposals for panels, individual papers/presentations, roundtables, workshops, and poster sessions. JCLC will also accept proposals in different formats (other than those listed above) that will excite, engage and create a new learning environment for conference attendees. JCLC encourages complete submissions. Submission for full panels and roundtables must include contact information for at least two presenters as well as a moderator. The Program Committee encourages members to use the ethnic caucus list-serves to network and find colleagues with whom to develop a complete panel. Incomplete panels will not be considered for review. Due to space constraints, not all individual papers/presentations will be accepted. Some will be grouped into panels, while others will become poster sessions. Individual presentations should indicate why the presenter is uniquely suited to address the topic independently. For additional information on session formats see: http://www.jclc-conference.org/program/presentation-guidelines
The moderator will be charged with introducing speakers, keeping time, and coordinating discussion. Moderators will be listed in the conference program and must register for the conference.
JCLC has limited funds; however, expenses for basic audiovisual equipment may be covered when the need for equipment is justified in advance. Do not list equipment unless it is absolutely required to avoid unnecessary costs. Presenters are required to bring their own laptops to avoid the expense, unfamiliarity and potential unreliability of rented laptop computers. A limited number of rooms are available with wi-fi or internet connectivity. Presenters will be notified if they have been assigned rooms with audiovisual equipment and/or internet connectivity in spring 2012.
All proposals are reviewed by the JCLC Program Committee. Proposals are evaluated on quality and clarity of content, uniqueness of topic, relevance to conference attendees, ability to engage the audience, and the relationship of the proposal to the mission of the conference.
Program Organizers will be notified on a rolling basis via email, starting on December 1, 2011 and ending on January 15, 2011. Program Organizers are then responsible for notification of all co-presenters, and must ensure that each registers and attends the conference.
Presenters and moderators must be registered for the conference by June 30, 2012 or risk being removed from the program.
